Objectives and Methods: To evaluate the effect of Bujabanha-tang water extract on cultured mouse spinal sensory neurons which was inhibited by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced cytotoxicity, MTT assay, NR assay and neurofilament enzymeimmunoassay(EIA), LDH activity assay were carried out after the cultured mouse spinal sensory neurons were pre-incubated with various concentrations of Bujabanha-tang water extract for 3 hours prior to exposure of hydrogen peroxide.
Results: H2O2, an oxygen radical, decreased the survival rate of the cultured mouse spinal sensory neuron cells on NR assay and MTT assay. Bujabanha-tang water extract has efficacy of increasing neurofilament decreased by hydrogen peroxide and decreasing LDH activity increased by hydrogen peroxide in cultured mouse spinal sensory neurons.
Conclusions: From the above results, it is suggested that Bujabanha-tang has marked efficacy as a treatment for the damages caused in the H2O2-mediated oxidative process.
